At a special meeting on Nov. 17, 2025, the Socorro Independent School District Board of Trustees formally canvassed the Nov. 4 tax-ratification election and adopted an order declaring that Proposition A failed.
An unidentified district official read the tallied results into the record: "Votes in favor of Proposition A were 7,118. Votes against Proposition A were 7,978. As a result, Proposition A did fail," and gave the totals for overvotes (2), undervotes (267) and total votes cast (15,365).
Speaker 1 moved to adopt an order canvassing the returns and declaring the results; the motion was seconded by Miss Macias. The board conducted a voice vote. The presiding official called for those in favor ("Aye"), no opposition was voiced, and the presiding official declared the motion passed. Earlier in the meeting the board had noted that three members were present for this special canvass meeting.
The district official who read the results said the reported numbers will be added to the formal order canvassing the election results that had been provided to the board for this meeting. No public comments were registered for the meeting. The board adjourned at 5:34 p.m.
There were no recorded roll-call vote totals for the canvass motion in the minutes; the action was approved by voice vote and declared adopted on the record.
