The Board of Education received the Student Safety Data System (SSDS) Period 2 report for the Jan.–June 2025 window from Director of Student Services Mr. Crouch on Dec. 15.
Mr. Crouch said the district recorded 37 trainings and 60 related programs during the reporting period and outlined school‑level counts. He reported an increase in incidents at the high school, noting reported incidents rose from 3 to 21 in the reporting window and that removals/suspensions rose in a related category (reported verbally as increasing from 11 to 25). Elementary and middle‑school incident counts were described as stable or low in the period.
To address behaviors, Mr. Crouch said every building runs monthly social‑emotional‑learning (SEL) supports and described interventions including the student assistance counselor (SAC), partnerships with Rutgers Behavioral Health, two full‑time clinicians serving middle and high schools, restorative community service programming called "RAMPLY," therapy dogs, and other community supports. He said the district is also using data to target interventions and engage families.
The student board representative, Miss Muson, praised those efforts during her remarks, highlighting the restorative program and service‑dog initiative and saying these supports help students connect with community resources rather than only imposing punitive responses.
The presentation was informational; no formal board action was taken and staff said they would continue to implement SEL programming and monitor incident data. The board later adopted the consent agenda that included approval of routine items referenced in committee reports.
