The Tangipahoa Parish Council on Dec. 8 adopted its fiscal year 2026 operating and capital outlay budget and approved the Tangipahoa Parish Library Board of Control’s 2026 operating budget, with all motions passing by unanimous roll call votes.

Mister Joseph, who identified himself as chair of the finance committee, recommended the parish budget and moved for adoption. The motion was seconded and passed 10–0. Council later considered and approved Ordinance 25-40, adopting the library board’s 2026 operating budget; that motion also passed 10–0.

Council also adopted Ordinance 25-44, an amendment to the FY2025 budget (described as an amendment to Ordinance 25-24/56). That motion passed by roll call with a unanimous vote. The clerk recorded the results for the minutes.

The council did not receive substantive public comment on the budget items during the hearing period, and members said the budgets were consistent with finance committee recommendations. No additional program-specific appropriations or spending breakdowns beyond those presented were discussed on the record.

The council voted to adopt these ordinances by roll call; the next procedural step for enacted ordinances is publication and implementation by the parish administration.
