EMS staff said the vehicle was not the county’s fault and that the department is pursuing insurance reimbursement but needs the repaired vehicle returned to service sooner than the county’s new-vehicle delivery schedule would allow. EMS leadership reported about 10 ambulances are on order, some purchased with ARPA funds, and that deliveries are staggered over the coming months; repair would return this unit to service in roughly 4–5 months compared with a longer new-vehicle lead time.
Commissioners voted to approve the repair expenditure. Staff noted the repair is being processed through maintenance/repair (not capital purchase) and that insurance recovery is expected but not guaranteed; the county will pursue reimbursement through insurance processes where applicable.
