Sherman County commissioners approved a contract to update flooring and repaint the Wolcott Building training space and adjacent offices.
A station representative, Unidentified Speaker 8, presented three quotes to modernize the training room, lieutenant's office and a separate office, saying the spaces had not been refreshed since 2013 and tiles were "starting to pop up" in places. Quotes came from Baker's Quality, Adondre Allen (county‑affiliated contractor), and a Burlington contractor; all three included flooring and painting.
Speaker 2 moved to accept a bid from Panchos Handyman Service for $22,007.94 to install carpet squares and paint the training and office areas at the Wolcott Building; Speaker 1 seconded and the motion passed by voice vote. Commissioners discussed funding options, including drawing from building maintenance, capital outlay, or health services funds, and asked staff to provide the final paperwork and receipts before proceeding.
Board members asked the station contact to keep them updated and suggested returning to consider an upgrade to the main entry hallway floor at a later date. The contractor and staff are expected to coordinate scheduling and materials once the county completes contract paperwork.
