Sharyland ISD board authorizes notice of proposed mid‑contract termination for employee after closed session

Following a closed session to discuss personnel, student discipline and security audits under the Texas Government Code, the Sharyland ISD board returned to open session and took action on personnel matters.

The trustees approved the administration’s personnel report — which included assignments, resignations and contract recommendations — by recorded motion. The board then considered a motion to propose the mid‑contract termination of a term‑contract employee, Martin Guerra Jr., and to authorize issuance of notice of proposed action to the employee.

According to the administration’s statement in open session, the proposed action followed the employee’s arrest on Oct. 3, 2025. An administration representative explained the recommendation as being "in the best interest of our students and our community." The motion to authorize notice of proposed action passed on a recorded 6‑0 vote.

The board made no additional factual findings in open session beyond the administration’s statement and authorized the process to send the employee a notice of proposed action consistent with Texas law. The board’s action begins the official notice process; any final termination would follow contractual and statutory procedures, including opportunity for the employee to respond and appeal per applicable Texas Education Agency rules and district policy.
