Jacksonville City Council voted to adopt a text amendment to the Unified Development Ordinance (Article 5.4) clarifying fence and wall standards. Planner Ryan King presented a revised diagram and proposed text to remove a confusing subsection and make clear where six-foot fences may be placed on corner lots.
King said the change aims to codify the diagram approved earlier by council and planning board and that reasonableness is not required for this legislative text amendment. The city opened and closed the public hearing with no speakers. A councilor moved to approve the amendment as consistent with the adopted plan and in the public interest; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
