The Jacksonville Planning Advisory Board on its October 2025 agenda approved a map amendment to rezone two parcels at the corner of Trade Street and Jacksonville Parkway from high-density multi-family to corridor commercial zoning.
Jennifer, planning staff, told the board the larger tract had been rezoned in 2024 and later subdivided; staff recommended commercial corridor zoning for the two resulting parcels. "They're 4 and a half acres and 4 acres, respectively," Jennifer said, and staff concluded the change is "consistent with the Cameland use plan." The board added a statement of consistency to the motion before voting in favor.
Board discussion was brief. One board member said the area already appears more suited for commercial use and there was no objection to reverting the two parcels to corridor commercial. The chairman called the motion carried.
What happens next: staff and applicants will follow the normal steps in implementing the rezoning; the Board did not list additional conditions during the meeting.
