Jacksonville City Council on the evening of the regular meeting approved a rezoning request for two adjacent parcels at 1114 Jacksonville Parkway and 690 Trade Street, moving them from Residential Multifamily High Density to Corridor Commercial. Planner Ryan King said the parcels total roughly 8.5 acres, are contiguous and face commercial uses nearby, including a new Wawa and other retail.
King told council the rezoning application, submitted on behalf of GMP MFH LLC, is consistent with the city’s comprehensive land use plan as described in the staff report and that the planning board recommended approval following required public notification. The council opened the public hearing and heard no speakers.
Councilor (mover) moved that the council approve the rezoning as consistent with the land-use plan and reasonable based on findings A through J in the staff report; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. The staff presentation noted that a transportation impact analysis would be required only if a future development on the rezoned property triggers the applicable thresholds.
