Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Elizabeth Pauley told the school committee the district faces “a gap of 4.5 to $5,000,000” next school year and that a mix of measures — from staff reductions to transportation changes to merging schools — would be needed to balance the budget. She said state Chapter 70 funding and upcoming contract rebids remain unknowns that could change the size of the gap.
