After a presentation tying the scope to 2025 bonding, the Jennings County School Corporation board approved a Performance Services contract to replace aging HVAC equipment at Brush Creek and a rooftop unit at Scipio, citing quieter classrooms, improved controls and energy savings.
Jennings County — The Jennings County School Corporation board approved a Performance Services contract to upgrade HVAC systems at Brush Creek and to replace a rooftop unit at Scipio following a multi-slide presentation explaining the scope and rationale.
Philip said the HVAC work at Brush Creek was a primary purpose of the 2025 bonding and walked trustees through past projects the vendor had completed for the district over the years. He told the board the work will remove failing equipment, provide quieter classroom units and add updated controls to give staff "a lot more visibility" into system performance. He also described a smaller rooftop replacement at Scipio for the office area.
"So this one's the next one on the list that had the most need being done," Philip said, describing a mix of unit-by-unit replacements and control upgrades intended to reduce energy and operating costs. He asked the board to approve the contract; the motion carried 6-0.
What the board approved
The motion authorized the district to enter into the Performance Services contract for the Brush Creek upgrade and the limited Scipio rooftop scope. Philip said the project is funded via the 2025 bonding process; he will oversee contract execution and provide updates to the board as the work proceeds.
What’s next
Philip told the board he would return with project updates as the district executes the contract. The Sand Creek roofing low bid — announced separately during the meeting — will be returned to the board for a formal approval vote in January.
