Student council representatives Landon Hay and Savannah Lindbeck presented a summary of recent student activities and community service at the Stewartville Public School District board meeting.
They recapped homecoming events, noting the homecoming dance attracted about 330 students and thanking volunteer partners (DJ services and photo booth vendor). They described participation in the SED leadership conference, costume-drawing fundraisers and popcorn Fridays that raised money for the WIC program; student council said it will provide a finalized donation amount at the next meeting.
The superintendent and board members praised student community involvement. The superintendent also described district social-worker-led programs that serve families year-round—backpack food program, "Jeans for Teens," free dental clinics, Halloween costume sharing, and a Nov. 7 food distribution facilitated with Olmsted County and community partners that provided more than 1,000 meals.
Board members thanked the students, staff, social workers and community volunteers for the outreach and fundraising that directly support families in need.
