Pickens County commissioners voted to rezone a 1.5‑acre portion of a 19‑acre parcel at 1750 Tawke Road (RZ191052) to allow the house to be sold separately from the larger tract.
Staff said the parcel sits within a suburban residential character area and is adjacent to rural residential zoning; given the existing house location, staff recommended approval of the amendment to the official zoning map. The applicant, Daniel Barrett, was not present; Jeffrey Rupp appeared as his representative and told the commission Barrett plans to build a new house elsewhere and sell the existing dwelling on the smaller parcel.
A motion to approve the staff recommendation was made, seconded and carried by voice vote. The commission recorded no additional public opposition at the meeting. The rezoning will allow the creation of a separate buildable lot while leaving the remainder of the 19‑acre tract intact.
