The Pickens County Planning Commission on Tuesday approved a revision to a conditional‑use permit for a 20‑acre property at 8834 Early Crossroads that allows the owner to host farm‑based events and a limited concert series.
Staff presented Case 191050 and told commissioners the applicant, Karen Smith, does not seek additional events beyond what had previously been permitted during vintage market days. Staff recommended redistributing the previously approved concert opportunities so that the spring series would include two concerts and the fall series two concerts, with music concluding by 9:00 p.m. "The recommended revised concert condition is as follows, a spring concert series consisting of 2 concerts with music ending by 09:00," staff said during the presentation.
The recommendation preserves all other previously approved conditions — weekend classes, seasonal yoga sessions, farm tours and live music connected to Jeepfest — and does not increase the total number of allowed concert events. Staff also noted the county currently has no plans to adopt a noise ordinance and said that fact did not affect the evaluation of the request.
A commissioner moved to approve the application with the staff qualifications; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The commission closed the hearing on the item after the vote. The action leaves in place existing operational limits while adjusting the timing of permitted concerts; no new permits or additional event counts were authorized.
