Sterling Heights officials accepted a $30,000 donation from Ford Motor Company's Van Dyke Electric Powertrain Center to support the city’s Inspiring Green tree‑planting and landscaping program.
"Ford Motor Company's Van Dyke Electric Powertrain Center... has joined us as an Inspire partner with a generous $30,000 contribution," Marissa Russo, the city's marketing and communications manager, told council.
City staff said the donation will support median, park and neighborhood plantings tied to the city’s Vision 2040 sustainability goals, including native trees and eco‑friendly landscaping that could total as many as 75–80 plantings at the designated site and a donor recognition sign. Ford representatives Audrey Joslin and Carrie Holt attended to present the check.
Council voted by voice to acknowledge and accept the donation; members thanked Ford for the contribution and noted it supports ongoing canopy restoration after losses caused by pests and prior development patterns.
The city will coordinate design and a ribbon‑cutting event with the donor and planning staff, and the donation will be used consistent with the Inspiring Green program’s scope.
