Alamo Heights foundation reports record receipts; audit clean and reunification drill planned
Summary
Board heard that the Alamo High School Foundation grossed about $1.092 million at Greater Heights Night, with net proceeds just over $900,000; the teacher fund now yields roughly $400,000 in annual recurring gifts. The audit committee reported a 'clean opinion' and the safety committee scheduled a reunification tabletop exercise in spring.
Alamo Heights, Texas — At its Nov. 19 meeting, the Alamo Heights ISD Board of Trustees heard a multi‑item update from district committees and the Alamo High School Foundation, including fundraising totals, a clean audit presentation and a planned safety tabletop exercise.
A foundation representative told the board the teacher‑fund program has grown to nearly 250 monthly donors, producing roughly $400,000 a year in recurring revenue. "Teacher fund is up to almost 250 people for Heroes for Heights as a monthly gift... That's $400,000 a year in annual recurring revenue," the foundation speaker said.
The foundation also reported that Greater Heights Night grossed about $1,092,000 on a budget of just over $180,000 and netted just over $900,000 for the foundation. "They grossed almost $1,100,000," the foundation representative said, and noted the event’s success could influence how future fundraising (for example the live auction versus paddle effort) is structured.
Separately, the audit committee reported that Armstrong Vaughn and Associates presented the district audit and issued a "clean opinion," with no material or significant findings, and that the full audit (described in the meeting as an 81‑page document) is available for review.
The safety and security committee said most of its recent meeting occurred in executive session but that the open‑session item was planning a reunification tabletop exercise for administrators led by the district’s new coordinator of safety and security, Chief Ray, to be held in early spring.
Trustees discussed using recent fundraising momentum for endowment planning and noted outreach efforts to connect with alumni in major Texas metros. The foundation said it is preparing for a future endowment campaign with a $10 million goal and continuing alumni engagement events.
The meeting materials and the audit report will be posted by the district on its website, the board said.
