During the meeting Sterling Heights staff presented several community-focused updates.
Brandon Chestnut of Identity PR previewed phase 2 of the "Look No Further" campaign, saying it aims to attract residents and businesses to Sterling Heights with targeted advertising and four resident stories that will be used in coming weeks. The council viewed a short campaign video featuring residents saying "Look no further."
Library staff Lindsey Block and Jessica DeGreeck described outreach programs including deposit collections at assisted-living facilities, weekly home-delivery service (capacity for up to 12 deliveries weekly with an additional monthly homebound service), mobile-library events and partnerships with local organizations; staff also previewed a new library satellite planned for Bridal Run Park in the coming year.
Community Relations Director Melanie Davis presented two NICE Neighbor awards: Helga Babich (nominated by Manny Gonzalez) for checking on a widowed neighbor who needed emergency help; and Megan Turner (owner of Old House Family Restaurant) for sustained community support including coat drives.
No formal council actions were required; councilmembers thanked staff and recipients and encouraged attendance at the Sterling Christmas event.
