The McPherson Board of Education accepted the district audit, set a special meeting to handle contract negotiations, and approved a three-year membership agreement with the SDAC health-insurance consortium.

Auditor Scott Lloyd presented the governing body communication letter and the independent auditor’s report, explaining audit scope, materiality and standard areas of focus such as activity funds and bank reconciliations. He told the board the current year audit did not identify reportable findings that required board action; examples described included outstanding checks and activity-fund monitoring but those items were not recorded as current-year findings. Board members thanked district staff, mentioning Nikki by name for her work supporting the audit.

Following the presentation, the board moved to approve the audit report and recorded the motion as carried by the board.

The board also discussed and established a special meeting focused on negotiated agreements; after polling members about availability (including options to meet via Zoom or in person), the board set a special meeting on April 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Central Office for that purpose.

On a separate vote, the board heard a presentation about joining the SDAC Advantage Health Insurance Consortium under a three-year membership agreement intended to support the district’s ongoing self-funded coverage and financial planning. The board voted to accept the three-year member agreement; the transcript records that Laura Hall abstained from that vote.

The board then approved routine items and adjourned after holding or scheduling a series of executive sessions to discuss non-elected personnel, confidential student information and the superintendent evaluation under the Kansas Open Meetings Act. The administration will follow up with dates and any materials required for public notification of community meetings and special sessions.
