Library announces December programs; resident presses council on delayed street repairs

At the start of the public-comment period, Lauren Talbot, community library manager at the Pico Rivera Library, outlined December programs and hours: a Puppet Day program at the Pico Rivera Library on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 4 p.m., a Pico Rivera Library Book Club meeting Dec. 16 at 6 p.m., and holiday closures Dec. 24–25 and Jan. 1. Talbot said copies of the January book (The Thursday Murder Club) will be available for checkout.
Resident Ricky Salas, who identified himself as a Pico Rivera resident of more than 40 years, asked the council to address multiple street-maintenance issues raised previously in a letter dated Sept. 10/23/2024. Salas described potholes, loose gravel and asphalt on a corridor between Lindsay and Rosemead Boulevard and asked what would be done before the rainy season. City staff said Salas’ letters would be collected for follow-up and the city manager and Public Works were asked to coordinate responses; Councilmember Lara said he had spent an hour with Salas reviewing the issues and that the city would provide a repaving/resurfacing schedule.
Council indicated staff will compile the requested schedule and follow up with Salas and the public works department.
