County approves 9.5-mile resurfacing package; commissioners flag loss of $1M state grant

Adam Via of Infrastructure Planning & Growth presented a resurfacing rehabilitation package (R & S 92602-D) covering approximately 9.5 miles of mainline and subdivision roads and said the low bidder was Milestone Contractors at about $2.93 million compared with the county estimate of roughly $2.95 million.
One commissioner asked whether the county will receive a $1 million Community Crossings grant from the state and warned the loss of that funding would affect the county's program. Via said the Community Crossings project will go out for bid in the spring and staff will reevaluate the funding plan; commissioners discussed reapplying in the July Community Crossings cycle.
The board moved to award the contract to the low bidder, Milestone Contractors; the motion passed with recorded ayes (Commissioner Morton, Commissioner Hazen and another commissioner present at the roll call). No additional conditions or funding offsets were recorded in the meeting minutes.
Next steps described by staff included scheduling work to begin when asphalt plants reopen in spring and monitoring Community Crossings grant outcomes to determine whether scope or scheduling changes are needed.
