The Boone City Council approved several public-works contracts and payments during its meeting.
Engineering staff reported receipt of three bids for the water-treatment plant ground-storage reservoir rehabilitation and recommended awarding the contract (base bid plus alternate A for full roof replacement) to low bidder Midtern Incorporated of Brooklyn, Iowa. The project will be funded with a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the remaining costs from water receipts; staff noted bids came in below the engineer’s estimate but with an approximately $50,000 increase that can be covered from water receipts. Council approved resolution 3467 to award the contract.
Public works also presented resolution 34 66 to perform a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) sewer-liner program, including lining from Page Flats through to the trunk sewer at 1st and Carroll and work in the Quinns area. The contract was awarded to Municipal Pipe & Tool and council recorded the approval.
Separately, the council authorized payment of $168,108.28 to Absolute Group for completed work on the Hancock Drive expansion project; staff noted construction activity had been substantial until weather slowed work.
Council members moved and seconded each action and approved them on recorded roll calls.
