City staff presented and council approved a three-year unit-price contract with Veka Electric and Technologies to provide on-call electrical services for city facilities.
City staff member Lee said the contract uses hourly and unit rates and carries a not-to-exceed amount of $400,000 for services through 2028. Council discussed that only one bid was received; staff confirmed bids were solicited through the city's regular process.
Councilmember Young moved to authorize the mayor to sign contract 26-014-FAC-001 with Veka Electric and Technologies; the motion was seconded and passed by roll-call vote with all members recorded in favor.
A councilmember noted that a similar contract approved in 2022 carried a total of $350,000 for the prior three-year term, indicating costs have increased but remain in line with prior experience.
Staff will execute the contract and call on Veka Electric as needed under the unit-price arrangement.
