Anacortes approves $400,000 HVAC maintenance contract for city facilities

Council on Dec. 1 authorized the mayor to execute a three-year, not-to-exceed contract with Blythe Mechanical for HVAC maintenance and on-call repair services at city-owned facilities.
City staff member Lee presented the proposed contract, saying it ‘‘allows the city to utilize Blythe Mechanical for regularly scheduled maintenance, as well as on call repair services’’ and that the contract covers 2026–2028 and is a not-to-exceed amount of $400,000. Lee said the contract includes set costs for maintenance and hourly rates for emergent repairs and that the full amount may not be used depending on services required.
Councilmember Walters moved to approve the contract; Councilmember Fantini seconded. The council voted by roll call with each named member recorded as voting yes and the motion carried.
The contract was described as consistent with previous arrangements for ongoing facilities maintenance; one councilmember noted similar contracts in prior years and that the amount aligns with historical costs.
The contract identifier appears in the meeting record as "26 0 1 3 f a c 0 0 1" and staff said it is a not-to-exceed, unit-priced agreement.
The council did not attach additional conditions to the award; staff will proceed with executing the agreement and managing service calls under the contract.
