Student drives, events and routine approvals highlighted in November board meeting

Student representative Pranita Shokengal updated the board on several community and student-led initiatives and trustees approved a set of routine agenda items.
Shokengal said the districtwide penny challenge runs Nov. 1 through Dec. 8 and that all four buildings are participating in a "Stuff a Bus" toy drive running Nov. 17 through Dec. 12 to support Washington County Toys for Tots; donations of unwrapped toys and gift cards are being collected. She also noted parent-teacher conferences ran Nov. 24—26, upcoming Keystone exams, the holiday concert on Dec. 11 and the high school—s recent PIAA Class 3A girls' soccer state championship win on Nov. 15.
On the agenda, the board approved one education trip for the instrumental music teacher and band director to attend the Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago from Dec. 17 to Dec. 19, with the high school budget covering costs. The board also approved six athletics items and eight construction items taken together and approved miscellaneous items 1 and 2; item 3 under miscellaneous was presented as a first reading of revisions to Board Policy 6.26 regarding procurement of federal programs and fiscal compliance.
