Staff said they had submitted a letter of interest for the 2026 certified local government grant cycle that could fund National Register nominations and design guidelines, contingent on completion of the ongoing historic-survey work. Consultant Tracy Schnell told staff she expects the survey to be completed in October after a short extension for personal and document‑processing delays. Staff said once the survey identifies potentially eligible districts and properties, the city could hire a consultant to prepare nomination materials and design guidance under the 2026 grant cycle.
On outreach, staff described coordination with tourism staff (Ruth and Maggie) to update brochures and QR codes. Rob Murray’s earlier email criticized the pace of updates; staff said many updates had been made and that interim signage or a QR code will be placed at brochure racks until final language is agreed. Staff also reported they are working to secure boilerplate easement language from Public Works and will send it to the city attorney for refinement.
The commission added work on an updated alteration form and the revised ordinance to future agendas; staff noted Eleanor will review the revised ordinance in an upcoming October City Council meeting.
