Staff said the West Madison Middleton Rotary Club has offered to pay for a Peace Pole and a plaque and asked the city to perform installation work. "They are currently working with city staff to upgrade, and have made a $2,500 donation, to refurbish the pier at Lakeview Park," staff said. Staff noted the club would cover the pole and plaque and that the city typically performs installation work at the donor's expense.
Commissioners asked whether the proposed pole site would affect ADA access near the accessible fishing dock. Staff said they had not finalized the exact location and would meet with their parks foreman to confirm an installation spot that preserves accessibility.
A motion to approve the installation if the Rotary pays installation and materials carried on a voice vote. Staff will coordinate final placement and cost responsibilities with the Rotary and return any required documentation or site plans if needed.
