Middleton recreation department expects full summer staffing as registration opens

Middleton recreation staff told the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission on April 7 that registration for summer programs and the first round of swim lessons opens Monday and that agreement letters for seasonal staff were sent in the prior two weeks.
Staff said they received a large number of applicants and are beginning to receive signed agreement letters back; for the first time in several years they reported having the ability to be selective in hiring rather than hiring every applicant out of necessity. Commissioners asked about hiring status and staff responded they expect to have full staff for the upcoming season.
Staff credited close coordination with multiple departments — including parks, police, communications, and marketing support — and noted that having a larger pool of qualified applicants should strengthen programming. No motions or votes were taken on the topic.
