The Palm Springs Unified School District governing board elected Karen Cornett as board president and Charlie Irvin as board clerk during its annual organization session on Dec. 9.
Board members nominated Cornett and Irvin during the organization portion of the meeting. Cornett's nomination was seconded and approved by voice vote; Charlie Irvin was later nominated and approved as clerk. The board also confirmed a slate of committee assignments: Cornett will serve as the legislative network liaison; Sergio Especiueta (as recorded in the transcript) will serve on the Head Start Parent Policy Committee; John Gerardi and Charlie Irvin will serve on the bond committee; naming and sponsored naming committees received assigned liaisons; equity and audit committee memberships were likewise confirmed.
The board took these votes by voice during the meeting; members moved and seconded motions and the chair announced the results. The board also set its regular meeting schedule (second and fourth Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at the district administration center) and approved a calendar update and signature certifications as part of organization business.
