Residents ask Woodbury to pause pilot disc‑golf plan at Tamarack Nature Preserve

Woodbury — Two residents who live near the Tamarack Nature Preserve asked the City Council on Dec. 10 to delay plans for a pilot disc‑golf course at the southern end of the preserve area, saying they had not received adequate notice and that the project could harm neighborhood traffic flow and natural habitat.

Beta Guadoni, who identified herself as a Woodbury resident of more than 20 years, told the council the proposed 9–10‑hole course would be sited at an entrance adjacent to Parkwood Knoll, a single‑exit neighborhood. She said construction traffic and event parking could create safety problems along Tower Drive and Valley Creek and that the area needs more study before altering the preserve. "I'm just asking, please, don't do it," she said.

Sherry De Brule, another Parkwood Knoll resident, also urged the council to "preserve the whole Tamarack Nature Preserve" and asked elected officials to reconsider the timing and notice for the proposal.

Mayor Burt and staff responded that the pilot would be placed adjacent to — not within — the preserve and that staff and the parks and natural resources commission intended the effort to test demand and work through parking and other logistics; staff noted the location near a play structure and existing parking. The mayor said staff would follow up with residents in writing or by phone.

What happens next: staff will follow up with the concerned residents, and the parks commission and staff will continue to refine the pilot plan, including reviewing parking and environmental impacts, before any final action.
