Stayton — The Stayton City Council recognized the Stayton area high school boys soccer team for winning the state championship and presented certificates and baskets to players and coaching staff.
Julia (city manager) introduced the recognition and read the names of players and coaches who were present. The ceremony acknowledged several individual honors: Isaiah Dixon was named first‑team all‑league and player of the year; other players received all‑league honors or honorable mention. Coach Chris Shields received a coach‑of‑the‑year certificate and was joined by assistant coaches Ivan Puleo, Nolan Kramer and David Holcomb.
“ As you all know, they took state, and that's very exciting,” Julia said as she opened the presentation. Council members thanked the team for representing the community.
The team received certificates and baskets and posed for photos with Mayor Quigley and Mayor Taylor from Sublimity, who were invited to join the recognition. The council encouraged community members to celebrate the team’s accomplishment.
