At a ceremony before its regular meeting, the Town of Cheshire administered oaths of office to newly elected and reappointed town officials, including members of the town council, the Board of Education, the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Zoning Board of Appeals and the town constables.
The moderator called forward groups in sequence and asked each appointee to raise their right hand and recite the oath, which pledges support for the U.S. and Connecticut constitutions and a faithful discharge of duties. New council members enumerated by name included Deborah Mankie, Peter Talbot, Louis Tedisco, Gregory Wolf, David Velleber, Jim Jinx, Don Walsh and Tricia Kramer; Fiona Pearson was noted as unable to attend. Reelected Board of Education members Heather Fitzgerald and Sam Rosenberg were also sworn in.
Planning and zoning appointments were administered next, with Christopher Aaffey, Matt Bowman and Jim McKenney taking the oaths, followed by alternates John Hilsinger and Chuck Neff. The Zoning Board of Appeals saw Therese Bradley and Edmund Cullinan sworn, and alternates Jerry Devine and David Iommi also took the oath. Constables Ron Gagliardi, Randy Rains and Michael Ropetsky were sworn as well. One expected appointee, Michael O'Brien for the Board of Assessment Appeals, was absent and the moderator said he would be sworn at a later date.
Ceremony organizers paused between groups for photographs; the moderator thanked 'Liz' for administering some of the oaths and invited attendees to refreshments in the back of the room. The moderator noted there were about a half an hour before the meeting proper began. The transcript does not specify a calendar date for the event.
