Council holds first readings on fire impact fees and 2026 budget; TIP awards $715,000 for street overlay

Mayor and staff also announced the city received a $715,000 Transportation Improvement Board grant for an overlay project on Gehrig Avenue extending to the railroad, which staff described as larger than typical grants the city has received and credited Public Works staff for their work securing the award. The mayor described the grant as funding an overlay from the U.S. Bank area up to the railroad station.
Both ordinances were advanced through first reading (Ordinance 15 80 and Ordinance 15 82). The mayor and staff noted ordinance readings and effective dates follow the city’s ordinance schedule: first reading Jan. 5 with second reading at the next January meeting, and implementation timing will follow after the second reading and any required school-board or external approvals where applicable.
No final adoptions were completed at the Dec. 1 meeting; staff will return with any required follow-up information at subsequent council meetings.
