CANYON LAKE, Calif. — In a reorganization vote Wednesday night, the Canyon Lake City Council unanimously appointed Council member Jeremy Smith as mayor and Council member Casey Castillo as mayor pro tem.
A motion to name Smith mayor and Castillo mayor pro tem was moved and seconded during the business portion of the meeting and approved by roll call. Council members thanked outgoing Mayor Mark Terry for his service during tributes earlier in the meeting.
What’s next: The newly selected mayor and mayor pro tem will assume ceremonial and leadership responsibilities immediately; council confirmed committee assignments and carried forward the existing committee calendar for 2026 by consensus.
