The Kernersville Board of Aldermen voted Dec. 9 to set a public hearing for Jan. 28, 2026, on a voluntary contiguous annexation of parcels at 4353 and 4365 High Point Road, an area described at the meeting as approximately 41.632 acres.
Community Development Director Ms. Garner told the board that planning-board consideration scheduled for the prior night was canceled because of inclement weather and asked the board to set the hearing for Jan. 28 so the planning board could review the case ahead of the municipal hearing. Board members discussed whether the item was a continuation or simply a setting of a new public‑hearing date; they clarified that the action at the meeting was to set the public hearing date by amending the resolution’s printed hearing date.
After clarifying the intended date change from Jan. 6 (as printed) to Jan. 28, a board member moved and another seconded the resolution with the amended public-hearing date. The mayor called the vote and the motion carried unanimously.
Ms. Garner said the annexation and related rezoning requests would be heard concurrently at the January meeting so planning-board review can occur first. The board did not take further action on the substance of the annexation at the Dec. 9 meeting.
