Princeton approves 2026 calendar; mayor announces events and grants

Mayor Stacy Gardner Johnson outlined a slate of upcoming community events hosted or supported by the town: the community center ribbon cutting and public library opening on Friday, Dec. 12 at 10 a.m.; an annual tree-lighting ceremony the following evening at 6:30 p.m.; "Pancakes with Santa" Saturday from 7:30–10 a.m.; a Christmas bazaar from 11 a.m.–3 p.m.; and the town’s annual Christmas parade at 1 p.m.
The mayor also acknowledged donations and grant awards: Lowe’s Home Improvement provided in-kind materials and the town received a $2,500 hometown grant used for park and picnic shelter painting and board chamber repairs. The town was awarded a Johnson County open space grant of $84,814.47 dedicated to parks and recreation improvements, and officials confirmed an application was submitted to the North Carolina Department of Transportation sidewalk grant program (the transcript references approximately $14,000,000 in available state funding for the program) to pursue state support for sidewalks on town-maintained roads.
