The Town of Princeton approved an amendment to its code of ordinances creating a no-parking zone along East Edwards to East 3rd Street (the update shortens an earlier draft that extended to the ballpark). Officials said the road’s curb-and-gutter configuration and narrow width make it difficult for dump trucks, pickups and buses to pass when vehicles are parked at the curb.
During review, staff noted the ordinance was amended earlier in the day to change the western/terminus point to East 3rd to address the area of concern. After questions and brief discussion about the map change and the safety rationale, a motion to adopt the ordinance was seconded and approved 4-0.
Board members characterized the change as a safety measure intended to improve traffic flow and reduce the risk of oncoming-vehicle conflicts where the road is too narrow for two-way travel with parked vehicles present.
