Princeton swears in mayor and commissioners; names Holmes mayor pro tem

Stacy Gardner Johnson was sworn in as mayor of the Town of Princeton during the board’s organizational meeting on Dec. 1, 2025. She recited the oath to uphold the constitutions of the United States and the State of North Carolina. "I do," she responded at the conclusion of the oath.
Three commissioners also completed their oaths at the meeting. Michael Holmes and Roderick Keith Robinson affirmed and were sworn to their duties as town commissioners, and Ashley Boyette likewise took the oath of office.
Following the swearing-in, a motion was made to appoint Michael Holmes as mayor pro tem; the motion was seconded and the board voted to approve the appointment 4-0. The mayor announced commission assignments for the coming year, including administration and finance, streets and bridges, and water and sewer responsibilities.
The swearing-in and appointments concluded Princeton’s organizational items for the evening. The board moved on to adopt the meeting agenda and the consent agenda later in the session.
