The city council voted to adopt the fiscal year 2026 budget when it approved resolution 25-1124-1 at the meeting. Mayor Nalton introduced the measure and said the council had held an extended workshop to review revenue sources and spending priorities.
The mayor said he had worked “very hard on this budget” and told the council he “has been able to cut off almost a half $1,000,000 out of out of that budget,” adding that he would continue to seek further reductions if possible. Councilor Jennings thanked the mayor and colleagues for the workshop and said the additional review increased understanding of where the city’s money comes from.
After brief discussion the council took a roll-call vote and the mayor announced the resolution was approved. The meeting minutes record the item as approved; the council did not provide a different dollar total for the final adopted budget during the session.
The council’s adoption follows a public workshop held earlier the same day, according to remarks during the meeting, and leaders said transparency in the review process informed their vote. No amendments to the resolution were recorded during the meeting. The council adjourned following a series of recognitions and routine reports.
