Tim Lee, Davie s urban forester, offered brief guidance for residents on choosing and planting trees in Davie Parks, urging them to favor native, noninvasive species and to consider site conditions and mature tree size.
Lee said practical selection starts with species choice: "We always try and emphasize planting native trees," he said, while adding that many flowering trees "are not native and they're also acceptable as long as they're not invasive." He advised homeowners to do background research on a tree s preferred site conditions before planting.
On placement and safety, Lee told listeners to visit the planting site and account for the tree s full-grown dimensions: "Make sure you know the size of that tree of maturity and then envision that tree when it's fully grown and make sure there's plenty of room for that tree to grow." He also cautioned: "Make sure there's not overhead wires," and to avoid planting beneath existing canopies so the new tree will receive adequate sunlight and not interfere with driving or utilities.
Lee closed the short advisory by inviting listeners to follow a series of tips and park tours: "Keep watching this week for more fun facts as we take a tour across our Davie Parks." The segment provided practical, nonbinding advice; no formal actions, votes, or policy changes were announced.
