Peoria County approved an agreement that allows Galena Road and Gravel to plan and begin internal planning for a box culvert under Truett Road to install a conveyor system moving aggregate material between properties. The intent is to reduce truck traffic; county staff said they are working with the state's attorney on the formal agreement and that the lease/agreement will include a sunsetting provision that requires removal when operations cease.
Commissioner Terry, whose district includes adjacent residential properties, asked for the record that staff ensure residents have opportunity for review and that the county protect residential interests as the agreement advances. Staff acknowledged those concerns and said the state's attorney and staff will work through details and that the sunsetting clause and related protections will be part of the agreement.
The board approved the measure unanimously. Staff characterized the agreement as an authorization to proceed with internal planning and to develop a formal agreement subject to attorney review.
