Assumption Parish Police Jury approves routine 2026 contracts, personnel changes and authorizes audits

Assumption Parish Police Jury members on Dec. 10 approved several routine 2026 contracts, accepted personnel changes and authorized the parish to sign an audit engagement letter.
The jury voted to approve a list of bills submitted through Dec. 5 and carried motions renewing two boat-launch leases for 2026 with Ricky Landry and Terry Blanchard. Members also approved the 2026 polling-place contract renewals and the fire-protection contracts for all five local fire departments. The jury authorized the president to sign an audit engagement letter with Eisner Amner LLP for the 2025 audit.
On a municipal-services contract with Assumption ARC, jurors approved renewal contingent on removing a newly added clause (identified in the meeting as item 4c) that would have required the parish to pick up nonrecyclable trash left at recycling stations. The motion carried after a commitment to contact the contractor and return the revised wording to the jury for final approval.
Personnel votes taken by the personnel committee were presented to the full body and carried: the jury approved an FMLA leave request for a custodian through year end, authorized hiring a temporary full-time custodian while the employee remains on leave, and accepted the workers’ compensation representative’s recommendation in case number 218965 following an executive-session review.
Most motions were recorded by voice vote. Where roll-call tallies were not recorded in the meeting transcript, the minutes note motions were seconded and carried. The jury’s leadership said staff will follow up with contract edits and bring revised language or additional documentation to the next meeting.
The jury adjourned with multiple committees scheduled to reconvene next week to continue review of grants and engineering recommendations.
