Council briefed on minor fee-schedule change to add OpenCounter payment system

Salt Lake City's Department of Public Lands presented a brief proposal to amend the consolidated fee schedule during the Dec. 9 work session.
The department asked the council to (1) rename an entry currently called "Max Galaxy" to "Active Nets" and (2) add the OpenCounter payment platform to the list of payment systems exempt from credit-card surcharges. Public Lands staff said existing technical limitations had prevented some payment systems from charging fees and that adding OpenCounter reflects how residents pay for services.
Staff told the council the department estimates the net financial impact is manageable and that the change provides convenience for users who already rely on the platform. Council members asked only clarifying questions; the request was described as straightforward and staff offered to follow up on any additional details the council requests.
