PORT ARTHUR, Texas — In routine business following staff reports on Tuesday, the Port Arthur Independent School District Board of Trustees approved meeting minutes, a consent agenda and multiple personnel hires.
Trustee Taylor Gilwood moved to approve the board minutes from October; trustee Narsi seconded the motion and the board voted to approve with no opposition recorded. The board then approved consent-agenda items 1 through 11 in a single vote after a motion and second.
On personnel, the board approved employment of teachers presented to trustees and confirmed several specific appointments: Aabria Garden as bond 2025 project coordinator, Theodore Sims as 2025 project manager, Christy Jernigan as special education elementary supervisor and Diana Clayton as special education compliance supervisor. Motions, seconds and affirmative votes were recorded in open session for each item.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Portery also reported operational figures: average daily enrollment for the month was 7,896 and average daily attendance was 92.8%. The board adjourned after the routine actions.
