Council authorizes settlement of workers' compensation and property valuation cases

After executive session the council authorized a $45,000 workers' compensation settlement in Carmen Arzola v. City of Bristol and approved a stipulation adjusting a property's 2022 full market value to $8 million in Anthony Di Lorenzo Towers litigation; both actions were approved and authorized corporate counsel and the assessor to execute the necessary documents.
Following two executive‑session discussions, the Bristol City Council authorized two settlements.
Councilman Steve Seymour moved to approve a full and final workers’ compensation settlement in the matter of Carmen Arzola (WCC file 7233481) for a total payment of $45,000 and authorized the mayor and corporation counsel to execute the settlement documents. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
On a second litigation matter, the council approved a stipulation in the superior court action Anthony Di Lorenzo Towers LP v. City of Bristol to adjust the 2022 grand‑list full market value of the subject property to $8,000,000. The council authorized the assessor to make the adjustment and corporation counsel to execute the stipulation on behalf of the city; the motion carried.
Councilors said no votes were taken in executive session itself and all formal authorizations occurred in open session after the executive discussion.
