Bristol boards approve small budget transfers as controller reports on audit timeline

Members voted to transfer $50,720 from the general fund contingency account to cover human resources professional fees and approved transfers totaling $21,200 within the Public Works operating budget for the city’s salt‑brine system. Both motions were made, seconded and passed by voice vote.
Controller Diane reported tax collections are close to where they were at this point last year, noting tax revenues are about 56% of the expected total and that prior‑tax receipts are slightly above last year’s pace. She said the city temporarily holds about $1.3 million in receipts that are earning interest. Diane said investment earnings for the fiscal year through September are about $781,000 and that some Munis reports are still reconciling as the fiscal year closeout is finalized.
On the audit timeline, Diane said she received a draft of the audit and expected staff review and a response to auditors within two weeks, with the city’s formal deadline being Dec. 31. Budget instructions have been issued to departments and the Board of Finance will adopt the budget schedule at its next meeting; the first department budget review is planned for Feb. 24.
The motions on transfers and the controller report were routine and carried by voice vote. No additional follow‑up votes were scheduled at the meeting.
