City of South Fulton planning staff used the Dec. 1 CCIM meeting to review public-participation rules and the 2026 rezoning and special-use schedule. Staff reminded applicants that a public participation plan report is required and repeatedly stated that the report is due on Jan. 7. "Any follow-up comments can be emailed to the planning@cityofSouthFultonGA.gov email," the meeting facilitator said.
Staff described notice requirements for applicants: mailers and materials must be submitted to planning staff for review before they are mailed, and notices (including the letter of intent, required site plan and meeting details) should be sent to city council members at least 30 days before the public participation meeting. Staff also said the meeting "must be conducted in person within 5 miles of the subject property and within the municipal boundaries of the city of South Fulton," and that meetings should permit audio-visual or teleconferencing so attendees can communicate with applicants and one another.
The planning schedule for rezoning and special-use items was displayed; staff noted the meeting on the screen was Cycle 1 and that the CCIM meeting that night corresponded to the highlighted item in the schedule. Staff asked applicants to notify planning if they needed address lists and to provide mailer proofs so staff can verify compliance with the 30-day notification requirement.
Next steps: applicants must submit their public participation plan report, provide mailer proofs for staff review and follow the posted rezoning/special-use schedule to appear at planning commission and city council public hearings.
