Liberty County commissioners approve routine purchases, plats, appointments and a fireworks authorization

The court approved consent agenda items, multiple procurement purchases (mini excavator, flooring, uniform shirts), plats and appointments, and authorized consumer fireworks in unincorporated areas for Dec. 20, 2025–Jan. 1, 2026; an indigent burial policy and volunteer fire department contracts were tabled.
At its Dec. 9 meeting, the Liberty County Commissioners Court approved a slate of routine and project-related items while tabling two items for further work.
What the court approved:
- Consent agenda with additions, including payroll corrections and certificate pay (motion carried). - Acceptance of sheriff’s report on facility repairs and systems upgrades. - Purchase and installation of flooring for the Cleveland Annex clerk’s office and mailroom for $2,668.50. - Authorization for fireworks in unincorporated Liberty County from Dec. 20, 2025, through midnight Jan. 1, 2026, under standard safety restrictions. - ARPA-funded payments to King Solution Services LLC totaling $385,039.40 for the City of Hardin sanitary sewer rehabilitation (estimate payment No. 7 for $354,055.10 and prepayment No. 8 for $30,984.30). - Approval of a prepayment and multiple minor development approvals, including Prairie State minor plat (14 vacant lots), River Ranch Phase 7 conditional letter of map review, and minor purchases such as uniform shirts (not to exceed $800) for the fire marshal’s office and a $100 service deposit to Santa Fe Utilities for the Northwest Annex. - Purchase of a used mini excavator for Precinct 3 for $87,500 from Lone Star Outdoor Power Equipment.
What was tabled or moved for later: an indigent burial policy was tabled to allow funeral-home input; Alley Farm Subdivision’s request to waive two-year maintenance for roads was tabled pending documentation; and the proposed volunteer fire department contracts were tabled to allow edits and interagency coordination.
Motions were generally approved by voice vote; when recorded, votes were unanimous. The court also entered executive session under Texas Government Code §§551.0725 and 551.071 to negotiate contracts and consult attorneys, then returned to open session and continued public discussion on firefighter contracts.
