Board approves near-$110 million 2025–26 budget resolution amid state-level uncertainty

Finance presenter Julie Bernofsky told the board that, while the legislature had not completed a state budget, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) had provided conservative allocations for planning. She listed the fund totals included in the resolution: local current expense fund $33,100,000; state public school fund $59,000,000; federal grants $5,000,000; capital outlay $2,800,000; child nutrition $4,900,000; and special revenue $4,600,000. Bernofsky said the combined total is just under $110 million and that she expects numbers to change and amendments to be brought as the year progresses.
Board members moved and seconded a motion to approve the budget resolution as presented; the board voted to approve it. Several members discussed that a final state budget could alter district allocations and that the board will consider amendments if additional funds become available.
The board’s approval allows district staff to proceed under the conservative allocations provided by DPI and to return with adjustments if the legislature finalizes funding later in the year.
