The Weber County Commission approved Resolution 60‑2025 on Dec. 9 to amend the Western Weber general plan by adding water conservation goals and action items required by state law. Felix Liberino, planning staff, said the amendment is staff‑initiated and intended to help the county and water entities plan for conservation measures, seek grants and set policy direction ahead of anticipated growth in Western Weber.
Liberino told commissioners the exhibit shows the exact text changes and the added action items that will guide the planning commission, land‑use code updates, and coordination with water entities. Commissioners discussed the role of Weber Basin as a wholesaler and the importance of metering and conservation to manage limited water supplies. Commissioner Jim Harvey thanked staff for leveraging CDBG and other funding sources to support conservation efforts.
The commission moved, seconded and approved Resolution 60‑2025 by roll call. Staff said the amendment is a policy update; implementation will include outreach to water entities and efforts to identify funding sources for conservation projects.
What happens next: The planning division will record the amendment and work with water suppliers to advance action items and potential grant opportunities.
