At the reorganizational meeting the board paused for recognition of Scott Avenue Elementary School.

Principal Kelly Rickey presented Melissa Hooey as the certificated employee of the year and Olivia Dennis as the classified employee of the year, describing both as essential contributors to student safety, instruction and campus operations. Rickey also explained the school's theme for the year, "Be Curious, Be Unique," and students shared short remarks about what the theme means.

Assistant Superintendent Alicia Aceves announced Irene Jeong, a third grader from Leffingwell Elementary, as the winner of the nutrition services truck-wrap contest; Aceves said Irene's artwork is displayed on a district nutrition truck.

Board members and staff offered congratulations and photos were taken during a short break.

The recognitions were ceremonial; no formal board action was required.
